Participation in international project Youth Media Sharks: Media Literacy Upskilling

Liliia Derkach, Student of specialty 072 “Finance, banking and insurance”, took part in international project Youth Media Sharks: Media Literacy Upskilling, implemented by the Center for Euroinitiatives and Associação My Madeira Island with the support of the “Erasmus+” program of the European Union,

The project began on August 27 at the “Romantyka” Youth Center in Sumy with a one-day training on the discussion of the consequences of disinformation, fake news and propaganda. Besides, the project included analysis of local media and a meeting with stakeholders in order to find the best solutions regarding the issue of information consumption by Ukrainian youth. As a result, a group of young people was formed for an educational visit to Portugal. Thus, from November 19 to 30, a number of workshops were held in educational institutions on the island of Madeira on the promotion of media education. Modernized instructions on media and information literacy were developed based on the results of this project.

“It was an unforgettable experience that allowed us not only to share knowledge of media literacy with others, which definitely contributed to the strengthening of international cooperation, but at the same time to test and significantly improve our skills,” says Liliia.
