The Department of Financial Technologies and Entrepreneurship of the Educational and Research Institute of Business, Economics and Management of Sumy State University provides professional training for specialists with educational degrees:
- Bachelor’s degree in 072 “Finance, Banking and Insurance” (educational programs “Banking” and “State and Local Finance”)
- Master’s degree in specialty 072 “Finance, Banking and Insurance” (educational programs “Finance”)
- Doctor of Philosophy, specialty 072 “Finance, Banking and Insurance”; 076 Entrepreneurship, trade and stock exchange activity
The teaching staff of the department consists of specialists who have sufficient practical and scientific work experience. The department employs 45 teachers, of whom 10 have the scientific degree of Doctor of Economic Sciences and 34 have the scientific degree of Candidate of Economic Sciences (including 10 professors and 29 associate professors).
Employees of the Department teach about 50 disciplines, for which the necessary set of modern educational and methodological support has been created and is constantly updated and improved.
The teaching staff of the department has prepared more than 500 methodological developments, published more than 800 scientific papers, including more than 100 monographs, brochures, textbooks and textbooks with the stamp of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
The Department of Finance, Banking and Insurance has a training bank, which allows you to model the real activities of the banking institution and use interactive forms of training, bring the educational process closer to the real working conditions of the banking institution and improve the training of students.
The concept of the department is based on the principle of student-centeredness, state standards of higher education, takes into account the basic principles of integration of higher education in Ukraine into the European educational space, as well as the real needs of practitioners to form the necessary competencies.
Teachers of the department take a direct part in the implementation of research topics. As part of the organization of scientific work of the student at the department there are student scientific circles.
The department actively cooperates in the employment of its graduates in leading banks, enterprises of Sumy region and other regions, departments of regional, district, city state administrations, insurance companies, other financial institutions and small and medium enterprises. The employment rate among graduates reaches over 95%.
One of the key priorities of the department is its integration into the international university community. The department promotes internships for graduate students and teachers abroad, teaching students in summer schools, participation in international competitions and conferences, trainings, including the Erasmus + grant program “3… 2… 1… Action!” (Palermo, Italy), V International Scientific Conference “Practice and Research of the Private and Public Sectors” (Mikolas Romeris University, Vilnius, Lithuania); training course “STEP IN: Step into the Dialogue”, Tallinn, Estonia).
Students, graduate students and teachers of the department participate in academic mobility programs (“included semesters”, internships): at the University of Foggia (Italy) in the program “Erasmus + KA1 – International Credit Mobility; at the University of Applied Sciences under the DAAD Fellowship (Zittau, Germany); at the Higher School Banking Institute (Prague, Czech Republic); at the Bundesbank University of Applied Sciences (Hachenburg, Germany), at the Technical University of Freiberg (Germany), at the Metropolitan University (Prague, Czech Republic).
Teachers of the department are actively involved in scientific, educational and grant programs:
- Jean Monnet educational projects “Financial aspects of European integration: summer / winter schools for young researchers and students”; “European financial education studies: research and dissemination of European experience in financial education among the population”;
- “School of Decentralization for Youth” funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation of the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
scientific grant from the Consortium of Economic Research and Education – EERC (The Economics Education and Research Consortium) for research on “Behavior implications of Systemically important Banks: evidence from Ukraine”; - research project with the Technical University of Freiberg (Germany) with the support of DAAD on “Development of dialogue between banks and civil society in the context of democratic processes in Ukraine”;
“School of Primary Entrepreneurs for Students and Beginners” within the framework of the European Union Project “Support to Regional Development Policy”.
The department carries out scientific and research works financed by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, in which graduate students and students are involved. Students and graduate students working in such GDRs have official employment and remuneration. For many of them, this is their first job.
The department invites young, ambitious, self-confident individuals to study for higher education in the specialty “Finance, banking and insurance” at the bachelor’s and master’s level.
