As part of the course “EU Anti-Corruption and Shadow Economy Counteraction Policy”, a webinar entitled “The Role of Consumers and Civil Society in Countering the Shadow Economy” was held.
The event was organised within the framework of the Jean Monnet Module “Anti-corruption and countering shadow economy: step by step to common Europe.”
The speaker was Serhii Minenko, PhD in Economics, Lecturer at the Department of Economic Cybernetics, Sumy State University.
During the webinar, participants explored how consumer choices and behaviour can contribute to reducing the scale of the shadow economy. Particular attention was paid to the role of civil society organisations in fostering a culture of integrity, enhancing the transparency of business processes, and exercising public oversight. The discussion also addressed the importance of public awareness and the tools that can help consumers identify corruption risks and counter informal economic practices.
The event was implemented with the support of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Modules programme.
