Successful completion of the Service-learning course

During March-May 2025, PhD, Associate Professor Olha LIUTA and Ph.D., Senior Lecturer Anastasiia SAMOILIKOVA took part and successfully completed the online course “Service-learning as an educational approach” from the Ukrainian Catholic University within the framework of the ServU project, co-implemented by Sumy State University (101128922 – ServU – ERASMUS-EDU-2023-CBHE “Service-learning in Higher Education for Ukraine’s Recovery”). Separate topics were devoted to the concept of service-learning, assessment of community needs and context, stages, models and tools for developing one’s own project, flexibility and adaptation, evaluation and reflection.
The lectors explored the possibilities of partnerships between universities and communities, studied real cases and insights from international experts, and mastered practical tools for implementation in the educational process, to develop a socially oriented course that integrates students’ academic knowledge with their practical activities, involvement, and service to the community in response to the real challenges of the urban territorial community under martial law and post-war reconstruction.
