Successful Completion of the Course “Interculturalism in Public Administration”, Bringing Together Participants from Across Ukraine

An online course on “Interculturalism in Public Administration” was successfully conducted at Sumy State University in May 2024. This course became one of the most successful events within the Jean Monnet Project (ID No 101047729 ERASMUS-JMO-2021-HEI-TCH-RSCH). The program brought together 114 participants from various regions of Ukraine, demonstrating a high level of interest in the topic of intercultural dialogue in public administration.

Participants from Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Poltava, Vinnytsia, Uzhhorod, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kropyvnytskyi, Chernihiv, Ternopil, Lutsk, Okhtyrka, Uman, Perechyn, and many other cities gathered to discuss challenges and opportunities in managing diverse communities.

Key Topics of the Course:

  • Interculturalism as an Approach to Urban Development
  • Challenges and Opportunities of Intercultural Dialogue in Governance
  • Real-life Cases from Ukrainian Cities
  • European Experience in Intercultural Policy

The course was led by Doctor of Economics, Professor Tetyana Vasilyeva, who shared her research and practical cases on the integration of interculturalism into the public administration system.

“Modern Ukrainian cities are becoming increasingly multicultural, and it is crucial for civil servants and public administrators to acquire the necessary skills for effective governance in such an environment. This course provided participants not only with new knowledge but also with an opportunity to exchange experiences, which is extremely valuable for the further development of our communities,” – said Tetiana Anatoliivna Vasylieva.

Course Highlights:

  • 114 participants
  • More than 20 cities of Ukraine represented
  • 8 recorded episodes of meetings with experts.

This educational course served not only as a learning platform but also as a collaboration hub for representatives from different regions. The acquired knowledge and developed recommendations will help participants implement the best intercultural practices in their communities, fostering the creation of an inclusive urban environment.

The Jean Monnet Project continues its efforts in promoting intercultural dialogue, with a series of new events planned to enhance administrative strategies and integrate European experiences into Ukraine’s public administration system.
