Participation of the Department’s Students in Baker Tilly and KPMG Webinars within the Economist Career Way Project

On October 17, 2025, students of the educational programs “Finance” (bachelor’s and master’s levels) and “Banking” of the Department of Financial Technologies and Entrepreneurship at Sumy State University continued their participation in the series of career webinars under the international project Economist Career Way, organized by leading companies of the financial sector.

The first event of the day was a webinar hosted by Baker Tilly an audit and consulting company that is part of the global network Baker Tilly International, providing services in auditing, taxation, business consulting, and accounting. The topic of the session was “Financial Reporting: A Practical Review of Interconnections between Forms”. Speaker Diana Rybchak, Junior Manager of the Audit Department at Baker Tilly, explained the structure of financial statements, highlighted the interconnections between their forms, and demonstrated how a single business transaction is reflected in different reporting forms. She emphasized how understanding these relationships helps auditors identify risks and draw accurate conclusions.

The next webinar was held by KPMG, an international network of independent firms providing audit, tax, and advisory services. KPMG in Ukraine is listed among the Top 50 Employers according to Forbes (2023–2024) and recognized as one of the Best Employers for Youth in the audit and consulting sector, based on a student survey conducted by the brand agency UGEN. The topic of the event was “Communication Skills for Successful Employment”. Speaker Sofiia Sukha, Talent Acquisition Specialist at KPMG Ukraine, shared practical advice on developing effective communication skills emphasizing the importance of active listening, non-verbal interaction, interview preparation, and professional written communication.

The participants gained valuable insights not only into financial and auditing practices but also into essential soft skills for successful employment and career growth in international companies.

Sincere thanks to UGEN and the Economist Career Way project for organizing these webinars and supporting the development of professional and career competencies among our students!
