On September 16-23, students majoring in 072 “Finance, Banking and Insurance” Iryna Kozhushko and 076 “Entrepreneurship, Trade and Exchange Activities” Kateryna Serdyuk took part in the Summer School within the framework of the project “Green Transformation at Ukrainian Universities” from the Alliance of European Universities UNITE! held at Wroclaw University (Wroclaw, Poland).
The topic of green transformation of Ukrainian universities emphasizes the importance of universities’ contribution to the country’s sustainable development and the formation of environmentally conscious thinking of the population. The main areas of the project were: Green Project Management, Additive Manufacturing (3D printing) as a Part of Digital and Green Transformation of Production, Methodology for Counting the Carbon Footprint, Design Thinking and Green Business Models. The study of these aspects was aimed at forming a comprehensive understanding of the importance of sustainable development, the use of new technologies and an innovative approach to starting and running a business, and project implementation.
Kateryna shares her impressions after the successful completion of the Summer School: “I glad that all circumstances came up into the way I participated in the Summer School at Wroclaw University. Frankly speaking, I did not expect the project to have such a huge learning program. Therefore, I really enjoyed open minded professors, participants and hacks about how to run and manage business, attitude to the workers, ideas productivity in green way. I strongly conscious that I will use a plenty of them in my professional future. In addition, it was awesome experience to get acquaintance with Wroclaw city and its’ local gnomes”.
“Sharing Kateryna’s enthusiasm for the project, I can add that the problem of lack of awareness of sustainable development goals in Ukraine really exists and really needs to be studied and resolved as soon as possible. The Summer School at Wroclaw University has once again proved that the implementation of various projects, business, social development and economic growth of the country is quite possible with a focus on shaping a green future and achieving the sustainable development goals set out in Agenda 2030. In addition, I realized how important a role of universities are in building the country’s best future and what we can do about it right now”, adds Iryna.
