On March 24, 2025, students of the Academic and Research Medical Institute of Sumy State University, groups DUOF3-201 and DUO3-202, took part in the webinar “Who to Trust: How to Evaluate Financial Advice and Financial Experts” within the framework of the elective course “Personal Finance Management” (lecturer — Liudmyla Zakharkina).
The event was organized by the National Bank of Ukraine as part of Global Money Week 2025 — an international initiative aimed at improving the financial literacy of young people.
Speaker: Alina Shukh — COO of Smart Family Office, a private investor, Financial Planning and Wealth Management Professional (CFI), and world junior athletics champion and record holder.
During the webinar, students learned:
• how to identify a competent financial expert;
• what income models financial consultants use and how they affect the advice given;
• which “red flags” may indicate financial fraud;
• how to verify the quality of financial recommendations before making decisions.
Participation in the event provided students with valuable practical experience. They received tools for critically assessing financial advice, expanded their understanding of the role of financial consultants in today’s world, and explored approaches to making responsible decisions in the field of personal finance.
