From 24 to 30 March 2025, a series of lectures on the discipline «Insurance Medicine» was delivered to master’s students of the educational programme «Healthcare Organisation and Management». The lecturer was Olena Zhuravka, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor of the Department of Financial Technologies and Entrepreneurship. The students learnt about the issues of healthcare financing. The lectures covered models of financial support for healthcare, sources of healthcare financing, key indicators and structure of healthcare financing based on the experience of the European Union and Ukraine. They also discussed the development of health insurance in Ukraine as an additional alternative source of financing medical services.
The lectures were aimed at gaining a system of special knowledge about the specifics of healthcare financing in the European Union and Ukraine, understanding the need to combine budgetary allocation of medical care and insurance-based financing, which will allow citizens to receive free medical care at the expense of budgetary funds and a certain part of it through health insurance.
The course is based on the results of the EU Jean Monnet Educational and Scientific Project “European experience in health insurance: case of Ukraine” (101127032 – EEHIU – ERASMUS-JMO-2023-HEI-TCH-RSCH) (2023-2026).
